If we were to compile a list of where to eat in Bath, we could not think of a better way to dine than by raising money for a very important charity. That’s why, on Sunday 7th July we made the top of a lot of people’s lists. So far this year Chris has been very busy (more on that later) but keep reading to learn of our very important news…
Raising Money on a Very Social Sunday
We are confident that you will have already heard of Hospitality Action; they are a UK hospitality industry charity that offers support to hospitality workers past or present. We were delighted to participate in their annual Social Sunday event this year; Chef decided that it would be a great way for the Olive Tree to contribute by serving a three-course Michelin star lunch with paired wine, Champagne and petit fours. We were delighted with the turn out – we raised £2,345 for a worthwhile cause!
Our Head Chef has been busy…
Already this year Chris has attended many events. He was invited cook at the launch of The Trencherman’s Guide No 27 – he also cooked in 2017 at No 25’s launch. “No 27 was a lovely chilled day with some great company and exceptional food from Richard Davies, Elly Wentworth and Jamie McCallum. I cooked the dessert which was dark chocolate, olive oil and yoghurt sorbet.” But that’s not all, a month or so later Chef was back on the public circuit – presenting a demo at Bristol Foodie Festival. “It’s always a pleasure to cook outside when the weather is so lovely. At the demo I cooked Turbot on the bone, wye valley asparagus, shrimps, lemon and sherry sauce.”
June saw Chris attend Pub in the Park in Bath. “I was extremely excited about demoing at Pub in the Park. Tom Kerridge is one the leading figures in our industry and a truly inspirational person. You can’t help but excited when you see the line-up of great chefs and it was fantastic to be invited to participate.”

Friday Feast with Michael Caines
This will be a first for Chris, as he cooks for the very first time at the Friday Feast in Taunton. Lucky diners will be treated to a Joseph Perrier Champagne & Canapé reception followed by dinner in the Garden Wisteria Room. From there, you will be able to watch a plethora of chefs at work in the kitchen (Josh Eggleton, Michael Caines MBE of Lympstone Manor, the Castle kitchen team led by Liam Finnegan and our very own Chris). Polo Day, Sunday 15th September
Polo Day, in aid of Hospitality Action, will see its 10th Anniversary take place at Beaufort Polo Club this September. Chris has been invited to join a brigade of esteemed chefs including Kris Biggs of The Rectory Hotel, Hywel Jones of Lucknam Park, Niall Keating of Whatley Manor, Michael Nizzero from The Bath Priory, Rob Potter of The Manor House and The Calcot Manor Brigade. Instead of the usual 300 guests in attendance, this year will see that number increase to 400 due to popular demand. If you wish to attend, please contact: email@example.com for further information.
