Keeping It Local
Two good reasons to support local producers.
First, freighting food in from the globe’s furthest reaches means food miles, planes in the air, trucks on the roads, questionable freshness, local producers bypassed: wrong, wrong and wrong again.
Secondly, this is the West Country, for heaven’s sake, bounty doesn’t get much more bountiful. Meat, fish, cheese, fruit or vegetables: the good stuff’s on our doorstep (or just round the corner), as is the expertise, and sheer love of great food.
And the more we buy from local producers, the more they thrive and carry on producing more lovely stuff for us to buy …
